Help Other People Use Windows 7

If you're the tech savvy person in your family or group of friends, you've probably been asked on numerous occasions to help a family member adjust a setting on their computer or help a friend add or remove some a file. Instead of walking a person through the steps in person, the Problem Steps Recorder in Windows 7 allows you to capture screen shots of you going through the process, and then send that file to your friend or family member via email. You can be the hero without wasting an entire afternoon.

Instructions

Record and Save Steps

Press "Start" in the lower-left corner of your computer.

Type "psr" in the Search box. Click "psr" in the Search Results box located directly above the Search box (the Problem Steps Recorder will appear on your screen).

Click "Start Record" to record all of your on-screen actions and movements. The "Pause" button will appear in place of the "Record" button after you click "Record."

Press "Stop Record" when you have finished recording your on-screen movements (the Save As dialogue box will appear).

In the Save As dialogue box, enter a name for your Problem Steps Recorder file. Save the file as a zip file with the .zip extension. Send the file via email to a friend who needs help or store the file in your personal records for future records.
